The agreement

These Terms of Use are a contract between you and Just Second Brain (“Just”, “we”, “us”), the operator of the Just app and of justsecondbrain.com. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Just. If you are under 18, make sure a parent or guardian is fine with you using it.

What Just is

Just is a personal second brain. You capture things by voice, text or photo, and the app files them as tasks, habits, notes, journal entries, meals, expenses, flashcards or workouts, and helps you plan and review them. It stores a copy on your device so it works offline, and syncs to our servers so your data follows you across devices.

We are a small team and we change the app often. Features may be added, reshaped or retired. Where a change removes something you rely on, we will say so in the app ahead of time.

Your account

  • You sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. Keep that sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Give us accurate information and keep it current, so we can reach you about your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not share accounts or sell access.
  • Tell us at once at hello@justsecondbrain.com if you think someone else has access to your account.

Subscriptions and AI credits

Just Pro

Core features are free. Just Pro unlocks the AI features and is sold as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may differ by country and store.

  • Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your Just account does not cancel a store subscription.
  • Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple and Google, and refunds follow their policies. If you live in the EU you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a digital purchase; by starting to use Pro features right away you agree that the service begins immediately, which may limit that right where the law allows. Where the store cannot help, write to us and we will look at it.
  • Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, the store will tell you in advance and the new price applies only from your next renewal after you accept it.

AI credits

Each Pro period loads a fixed allowance of AI credits onto your account. Every AI action spends a set number of credits, shown before you confirm. When the balance runs out, AI features pause until the next renewal; everything else keeps working. Credits do not carry over between periods, cannot be transferred, and have no cash value. We may adjust the allowance or per-action prices for future periods, with notice in the app.

Your content

Everything you put into Just stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, sync it between your devices, back it up, and pass the specific pieces you submit to the AI providers described in the Privacy Policy. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the deletion timelines in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you store. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use, or content that is illegal where you live. We do not review your content, do not use it for advertising, and do not use it to train AI models.

Keep your own copies of anything important. We take backups, but Just is not a substitute for your own records, and you can export your data at any time by asking us.

AI features

Just uses AI models to transcribe speech, file captures, estimate calories from photos, read receipts, summarise links, generate images and search by meaning. These models make mistakes.

  • Calorie and nutrition estimates are approximations from a photo. They are not dietary or medical advice. If you manage a health condition, a weight goal or a medication, rely on measured data and on a professional, not on Just.
  • Receipt totals, merchants and categories are drafts. Check them before relying on them for budgeting or taxes.
  • Filing suggestions, summaries and generated images may be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate. You review and confirm before anything is saved, and you are responsible for what you keep.

Mindfulness, breathing and workout tools are general wellness aids. They are not medical treatment. Stop any exercise that causes pain and consult a professional for health concerns.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • break the law, or store content that infringes someone else’s rights;
  • try to access other users’ data, probe or overload our systems, or bypass credit metering, entitlement checks or rate limits;
  • reverse-engineer the app or our servers except where the law explicitly allows it;
  • use automated tools to scrape, mass-create or mass-delete content outside features we provide for that purpose;
  • resell Just or offer it as part of another service without our written agreement.

We may suspend or close accounts that do these things. Where it is reasonable we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Third-party services

Just depends on services we do not control: Apple and Google for sign-in, distribution and payments; Supabase for hosting; OpenAI and ElevenLabs for AI; RevenueCat for subscription status; PostHog for analytics. Their availability and terms affect ours. Links you save in Just lead to websites run by others, and we are not responsible for their content.

Our rights

The Just app, website, name, logo, design and code are ours or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own, for your own use, under these Terms. Feedback you send us may be used to improve Just without any obligation to you.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Just whenever you like and delete your account from Settings in the app or by emailing us. We can end the agreement if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and a way to export your data. When the agreement ends, your licence to use the app ends and your data is deleted on the schedule in the Privacy Policy. Sections on your content, liability and governing law survive.

Warranties and liability

We work hard to make Just reliable, but we provide it “as is”. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and we make no promises about the accuracy of AI output.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, lost data that you could have backed up, or damages arising from your reliance on AI estimates. Our total liability to you for any claim related to Just is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live, or liability for death, personal injury, fraud or gross negligence.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. For material changes we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Just after that date, the new Terms apply. If you disagree, stop using the app and delete your account before then.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria and applicable European Union law. If you are a consumer in another EU country, you also keep the protections of your own country’s mandatory consumer law, and you may bring claims in your local courts. The European Commission runs an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We prefer to resolve disagreements directly; please write to us first.
